Planned Giving Print E-mail

Planned giving is a tremendous final gesture that ensures the care and protection of many animals to come. So it makes sense that the very first step in the planning process is to understand more about the Humane Society of Baltimore County. We’ll let your advisor talk to you about the best financial instrument to use… after all, we’re not experts in finance! We just know how to apply your final gift to the care of animals.

Understanding the Humane Society is as simply as learning about our history, about what we do and, equally important, about what we do not do. Take a moment to understand our mission and our history.

What we do...

For over eighty years, the Humane Society has been protecting animals by providing a safe refuge, medical care and by placing them in loving homes. Today, our core programs continue the organization's history of life saving better than ever. We maintain three focal points:

  • We provide thousands of low cost sterilization surgeries each year.
  • We intake and adopt animals, primarily cats, dogs and small animals.
  • We provide for the final rest for pets that have passed.

Each of these we do with great compassion and care, and with an unyielding desire to preserve life. In fact, we guarantee a home for each healthy, adoptable pet.

What we don’t do...

There are a lot of misperceptions about the Humane Society and its role within our community. Here are a few things we should dispell:

  • We do not operate animal control services.
  • We do we investigate animal cruelty.
  • We do not receive public funding.
  • We do not receive funding from any governing organization.
  • We do not euthanize for lack of space or time.

There are a lot of other myths out there about the Humane Society. Now that you know more about us, maybe it's time to meet us. If, at this point, you're interested in pursuing estate planning with us in mind, please give us a call.
