The Baltimore Humane Society is dedicated to finding homes for over 1,000 animals every year. Once you think you have found your new life-long friend, staff and volunteers will guide you through our adoption process, which includes completing an application form, being interviewed in person at the shelter, and reference checks. If you see an animal on the website that you are interested in adopting, you must first visit the animal at the shelter and then fill out the application.

Completed applications can be brought to the shelter or faxed to 443.650.0631. If faxing the application, please contact us within 24 hours of sending the fax to confirm that it has been received. If you see an animal on the website that you are interested in adopting, you must first visit the animal at the Animal Center before the application is placed on the animal.

To help ensure the best possible match for the adopter and the animal, we work with adopters to help ease the introduction and adjustment of the new companion animal to the home. Remember, each animal has unique characteristics and specific needs. Every effort is made to ensure that animals are matched with suitable adopters so that they can remain in their new homes for life.
