Abandoning an animal
Abandoning an animal is illegal! Animals abandoned on the Humane Society's property are required by Baltimore County law to be turned over to Baltimore County Animal Control. Leaving an animal on our property (with or without information about the animal) is considered abandonment and the animal will be taken to animal control. Please call during normal business hours to arrange a surrender appointment.

We have lots of wonderful animals here just bursting to give tons of love and affection. If you’re ready to find your new forever best friend, here’s how to go through our adoption process. Our adoptable pets are updated on our website daily. So please check back frequently. How to Adopt
We reserve the right to request a home visit for any adoptable animals before final application approval. NOTE: Baltimore Humane Society reserves the right to refuse adoption to anyone for any reason. We take up to 3 applications per animal on a first-come, first-serve basis. We do not hold animals. Nor do we authorize adoptions to be “gifts.” The person who will be considered the owner of the pet must be present and go through the adoption process. The Adoption Center is open Tuesday-Sunday from 12:00pm-6:00pm. We are closed to the public on Mondays. Please be advised that animal visits out of their kennels and cages are until 5:30 p.m. Weekends are particularly busy so please be prepared. Please take your time in your selection. Baltimore Humane Society does not do same day adoptions. We do our best to be sure the animals are adopted into suitable forever homes. Each animal is an individual with different personalities and needs.
